Galathy is getting on the map
Galathy, Romania, April 28, 2002 -
For the past two years the town of Galathy has been the host of a serious
of cartoon exhibition. The first exhibition in the gallery Ironica
at the Dunarea de Jos University was organized in 2000 with such artists
as Aurel Stefan Alexandrescu, Mihaita Porumbita, Valeriu
Curtu, and Mihai Ignat. Last year a series of new exhibitions
began with a collection of works numbering 469 original Romanian cartoons,
71 reproductions, and 52 original cartoons from abroad. Two new galleries
joined in to provide a home for the shows: Paradox in the SIDEX Club
and 1st Floor in the hall of the local daily newspaper Viata Libera.
