A "top list" from Iran
Tehran, Iran, January 15, 2003 - Professional
cartoonists in Iran voted to select the best Iranian and international
cartoonists and caricaturists. Arbitrary as it may be, they came
up with the following choices: The world's best cartoonist: Ralph
Steadman; The world's best caricaturist: Jan Opdebeeck;
The best Iranian cartoonist: Touka Neyestani; The
best Iranian caricaturist: Afshin Sabouki
Javad Alizadeh in the United Arab Emirates
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 25, 2002 - The 2nd International Cartoon Forum took place in this city from
March 19 to 25 with participants from fifteen countries. The about 500 cartoons
entered from 102 artists representing 35 countries were judged by Abdulla
Almoharaqi, Rafat Shahin and Javad Alizadeh (iran). The
first prize (DHS 5000) was awarded to Vladimir Kazanevsky of Ukraine.
