First Brazilian to win in Knokke-Heist
Knokke-Heist, Belgium, February 17, 2002 - The jury of one of Europe's older and better known cartoon competitions,
the Knokke-Heist International Cartoon Festival, has awarded the first prize
"The Golden Hat" to Brazilian cartoonist Biratan Porto.
The proclamation will be in Saturday, June 8, 2002. This is the first time
that a Brazilian artist won a first prize in Knokke-Heist. Ubiratan Nazareno
Borges Porto (Biratan) was born in Belém do Pará in 1950.
He developed his cartoon based on the theme "cloning."
