KUWAIT
Cartoon ignites riot against a major newspaper in Kuwait (1996)
Outraged fundamentalists, upset over a "Hägar the Horrible"
strip published in the Arab Times, stormed the paper's Kuwait offices and
chased an editor out by gunpoint. The comic by Chris Browne depicted
Hägar complaining about praying but no one hearing him. A voice from
the clouds goes on to say "Sorry" and other things. The paper
ran an apology several days later, claiming the printing of the strip was
unintentional and done without malice.
