Sema Ündeger

Sema Ündeger is a versatile artist adept in caricature, cartooning, photography, ceramics, and sculpture. A native of Istanbul, Turkey, she attended a local college and worked in ceramics at the Yildiz Palace in her native country in 1965. She dedicated herself to animation with the Istanbul Advertising Agency in 1972, and that same year began a productive career in caricature, publishing her work in several Turkish periodicals. From 1976 to 1978 she worked with Politika Gazetesi, a political journal, as a caricaturist, photographer, and writer. Her many titles include Turkish representative of the Federation of European Cartoonist Organizations (FECO), General Secretary of the Turkish Cartoon Association, and Turkish Editor of WittyWorld. Her work has been exhibited worldwide; it has received over 50 solo exhibitions in Turkey, France, Austria, Cyprus, and Romania It is in the permanent collections of museums in Bulgaria, Italy, and Japan and has been published in numerous international collections. Among the many national and international awards Ms. Undeger has received are those of the Nasrettin Hoça International Festival in Turkey, the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, Pistoria Rossegna di Grafica Umoristica in Italy, and the Taejon Festival in Korea. A pioneer among woman cartoonists, Ms. Undeger is one of the most active cartoonists in her country.

Sema Ündeger has represented Turkey as an editor of WittyWorld since 1987.
