Gustavo (Garrincha) Rodríguez Rodríguez

Garrincha was born on December 29, 1962, in Havana, Cuba. He graduated in Geography Science in 1989, but he soon devoted his time to his cartoons that began to appear in publications three years earlier. Since then he has been steadily contributing to periodicals in Cuba and Mexico. In 1995 he became a staff member of Palante magazine. In 1998 he moved to DDT magazine, becoming its editor in 2000. His works have appeared in several exhibitions and catalogs. Garrincha won 12 international awards and 25 in national competitions. He has been a member of the jury at many cartoon contests. Garrincha is the president of the Humor Association in the Cuban Journalists Organization. Besides editorial and gag cartoons, he has worked in animation, Internet illustration, and advertising design.
