Marco de Angelis Italian Desk Marco De Angelis was born in Rome, Italy, in 1955 and he has been is living and working there since. He is professional journalist, cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic artist. His editorial, gag cartoons, and illustrations, have been published in the dailies Il Popolo (from 1979 to 1997), Il Messaggero, La Repubblica, Il Mattino, and many italian humor magazines, such as Il Travaso, Marcaurelio, Help!, as well as trade magazines. His work also appeared in the Swiss Nebelspalter, the German Eulenspiegel, Yugoslavian Jez, Croatian Feferon, and the Polish Szpilki.
Since '84 his cartoons have been published in newspapers in the USA, Canada, and Europe first Rothco Cartoons, then from '90 by Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate. Among the papers his work appeared are TheWashington Post, Los Angeles Herald, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Vancouver Sun, World Press Review, International Herald Tribune, Courrier International and many others. De Angelis also draws illustrations for narrative and scholastic children's books (of important publishers like Giunti , Lapis, etc.) and a group of twenty-five magazines, in five languages, distributed by European Language Institute to students in over thirty countries. His cartoons have been utilized in programs of RAI and other television stations and are also on web sites. He won 13 international first prizes at cartoon competitions and other 30 awards. Some of them are: the Golden Palm in Bordighera (Italy) in '97, two 1st prizes of the Council of Europe ('78 and '90), 1st prize in Istanbul in '87 and Tehran in '95.
His works are part of many museums and collections around the world, among others in Tolentino, Tehran, Skopje, Istanbul, and Boca Raton. The author of two books "The agrihumorist" and "Escape in the Third Millennium," he served as a member of juries in various cartoon contests.
